Pickles in India are usually made at home. They are made without any additional preservatives as salt and oil works as preservatives. My mom makes a variety of pickles that I have always relished from childhood. Always wondered if I will be able to make pickle. I have been hesitant so always used ready made. This is the first time I have made this pickle which is the simplest one out of all.
- 1 white radish ( mine was a big size, depending on the size of the mooli)
- 7-8 green chillies slit lengthwise
- salt to taste
- 2-3 tsps yellow mustard
- 4-5 tbsps vegetable oil ( mustard, olive or vegetable)
First wash and peel the radish using a peeler, then cut into desired shape. Also slit the green chillies lengthwise. In a m mixing bowl, add salt, yellow mustard and oil. Mix well. Let it sit outside in the sun covered in the mixing bowl or in a clean glass airtight bottle or jar.
After a couple of days, put the pickle in the fridge. Enjoy with your meal..
