Poha Chivda Mix is an easy savory snack for Diwali, that can be made under 30 mins and can be enjoyed any time of the day.

  • 3 cups thin poha
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • ½ tsp mustard seeds (optional)
  • ¼ tsp asafoetida
  • 4-6 curry leaves
  • 2 green chilies (optional)
  • ¼ Cup raw peanuts
  • ⅓ Cup cashew nuts ( didn't have any)
  • ⅛ Cup dry coconut slices
  • ½ tsp red chili powder
  • ½ tsp tumeric powder
  • salt to taste
  • ¼tsp citric acid ( i didn't use it)
  • 1 tsp sugar
  1. In a flat pan, roast the poha on slow heat for 5-7 mins or until crisp and set aside. Now in a kadhai, add the oil and let it heat up a little. To that add mustard if using, along with curry leaves, asafetida, raw peanuts, cashews, then in a couple of minutes add coconut slices.
  2. Now add salt, turmeric, red chili powder and sugar to the nuts. Add the roasted poha to it and mix it well on a slow heat. Make sure you stir it constantly to avoid burning.
  3. Let the mix cool down completely. Store it in the air tight container and it should be good for 3-4 weeks.
  4. Enjoy it with a cup of tea or anytime of the day when you are craving something savory.
