Kadai Paneer

What can I say about this dish?  Kadai Paneer is one of the most popular dishes in North Indian restaurants served with naan, roti or paratha.  Are there any paneer lovers here???  If you are then you will love this dish as it is a combination of peppers (red & green), onions, tomato along with the paneer.  The best part is that this dish can be ready under 30 mins as long as we have shallow fried paneer ready to be used.  Isn’t it awesome???  Sometimes we all are in a rush and need recipes like this which can be a life saver specially when you have guests coming over.

Kadai Paneer

This paneer delicacy is one of my daughter’s favorite.  She just loves paneer. I don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t enjoy paneer except my brother who is a picky eater.  Its okay, that just mean more for us and he doesn’t what is he missing.  This dish can be served as an appetizer or main course side accompanied with some kind of daal.

If you have never had this dish, I highly recommend it as it is a lip smacking dish which will definitely tickle your taste buds.  Aren’t you salivating?  So what’s the delay, try this recipe and do share your feedback….

Kadai Paneer

Ingredients:

  • 14 ounces paneer cubed and fried (shallow fry in a pan)
  • 1 small green pepper, cubed
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, cubed
  • 1 red onion cubed
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 3/4 tsp cumin
  • 3/4 tsp kasuri methi
  • 3-4 garlic chopped
  • 1 inch ginger chopped
  • salt to taste
  • 1 tsp or to taste kadhai masala ( used Homemade)
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala (used homemade)
  • 1/2 cup tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 dry whole red dry chilies

Directions:

In a kadhai, heat the oil.  Add the cumin seeds and dry red chilies and let it crackle.  Add garlic and ginger to it and saute for a few seconds.  Now add the cubed onions and cook until light pinkish color.

Now add the bell pepper both red and green and sautee for a few minutes.. After sautéing the veggies, add the tomato puree and mix well.  Also add salt, turmeric, kadhai masala, garam masala, red chili powder and paprika

Let it cook it until the raw smell of tomato puree is gone.  Then add the fried paneer cubes and mix well so all the masala covers the paneer cubes and cover it.  Cook for a few minutes so the flavors marry.  Now add the kasuri methi and mix.  Your kadai paneer is ready to eat.
