In a mixing bowl or your electric mixer bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup of warm milk. Add the remaining milk, sugar, salt, butter and the eggs. Add the 5 cups of flour and mix it with the paddle attachment if using the mixer until its smooth for a couple of mins. Change to the hook attachment and knead it on low speed, adding more flour if necessary. I added about 3 tbsp more. Knead until the dough is stiff which is approx 10 mins.
Grease a large bowl with butter and turn the dough into it. Using your hand you can flip it and cover the bowl with the clear plastic wrap and keep in a warm place until double in size. It will be about a couple of hours but I left mine for about 4 hours.
When the dough is ready, punch it down and knead for another 2-3 minutes. Grease the loaf pans and and shape it and place in the pans. Let it rest for another 45 minutes to an hour covered with the clear plastic wrap.
Pre heat the oven at 400F and bake it for 10 minutes. Lower the temperature to 350F and bake it for additional 20-30 minutes or until the loaves sound hollow when tapped and the tops are brown. Pull it out of the oven and let it cool down in the pan for 5-6 minutes. Take it out of the pan and place it on the cooling rack.
Let the loaves cool down completely and then you can cut them into slices. Enjoy it with your favorite jam or butter.
