What Is Tzatziki?
Tzatziki (pronounced tsah-ZEE-kee) is a Greek condiment traditionally made with strained yogurt, grated cucumber, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, and fresh herbs like dill or mint. Itโs served cold and pairs beautifully with grilled meats, warm pita, falafel, or even fresh veggies. The cooling properties of yogurt and cucumber makes it perfect dip to go with spicy meats and veggies.

The first time I tried Tzatziki was when I helped my uncle with his Greek Food booth at the convention center in Florida.ย I did fall in love with it specially with my falafel and pita.ย My memories go back 30 years and it reminds me of Indian Cucumber Raita.
Tips for the Best Tzatziki
- Use Greek yogurt for the thickest, creamiest texture.
- Drain the cucumberโexcess moisture can ruin the consistency.
- Adjust garlic to your tasteโstart with a little and add more if you like it bold.
- Rest it for atleast an hourโchilling enhances the flavor dramatically.
