Fresh Homemade Salsa

When it comes to raw tomatoes, I am so picky. ย I don’t like those big chunks of tomatoes, don’t know why? ย I have given them a try a few times, but no luck. ย When I cook too, I try to use as much tomato puree as I can wherever possible. I always used to buy salsa from the store as I kind a like the taste of it and also was hesitant to try at home as I am not a big fan of chunky raw tomatoes. ย Finally I decided to give it a try after researching the net that I can make it smooth instead of chunky. ย So my husband tries it and goes, “dang it is spicy” after a couple of bites he was like it is yummy…don’t feel the heat anymore…

Ingredients:

  • 7-8 soft red tomatoes (or more)
  • 1 jalapeรฑo or to taste
  • 1 ย red onion or white
  • Large handful cilantro
  • salt to taste
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • 1/2 of a lime, juiced
  • black pepper to taste

Directions:

Wash and roughly cut all the ingredients and put it in the food processor. ย I used my blender instead.

Now pulse it about 8-9 times until desired consistency. ย If you think it is still chunky then you can do it a few more times.

Serve it with a bowl of tortilla chips, or top it off on your favorite mexican entree.
