No Knead Focaccia Bread

I am very hesitant to try my hand on baking.  This bread is so easy and fast to make.  Everyone loved it in my house.  The smell of the bread….oh my God..heavenly!!!!  Learned this from one of the members of a food group that I am part of.  So, enjoy this quick and easy bread with lots of flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cup of warm water
  • 2.5 tsp active yeast
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil + 2 tbsp for drizzling
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp Italian Seasoning (any kind)
  • 1/2 tsp red chilly flakes
  • 1 small red onion thinly sliced lengthwise
  • sliced green bell peppers
  • sea salt to sprinkle

Directions:

In a mixing bowl, add 1 1/4 cup of warm water. Make sure the water should not be hot, it should be just warm, as hot water would kill your yeast. Now add yeast, sugar, salt, oil and flour.

Mix all the ingredients together.  Give 20 – 25 strokes with a big spoon so that all the dough will come together and form a ball. After mixing the dough will be sticky, so don’t worry.

Now generously coat the palm of your hands with oil and lift the sticky dough and place it in a square greased pan.

Cover it with a cloth or serene wrap and set aside.  Let it rise until it gets double in volume. It will take approximately 1-2 hours depending on the weather.  You can also warm up the oven for 5 mins and turn it off.  Place the baking pan in it.  This will help in the rising process. Lightly oil your finger tips and press slightly into the dough to make a few dimples.   Sprinkle italian seasoning, red chilly flakes and the remaining 2 tablespoon if olive oil.

Spread the thinly sliced onion, bell pepper and jalapeños all over the dough.

Pre-heat the oven at 395 F.  Sprinkle sea salt all over and bake it for 20-25 minutes or until the top is light brown.

  1. I hate it when I have to knead for longer 😛 And this one sounds perfect for my laziness… I love focaccia anytime anyday… And I’m gonna bake this soon!!!

    • Shruti, I think I am the same way, that’s I haven’t tried any other breads yet….Do let me know what did you think? I loved it…

  2. Can his be done with instant yeast?
Always find that easier as one does not have to worry about the temperature of the water.
