Paneer Ki Bhurji

Paneer Bhurji is a very common north Indian breakfast which is made of crumbled paneer(cottage cheese).  This is a very simple and easy dish to prepare and delicious when eaten with a paratha.

Ingredients:

  •  2 cup crumbled paneer (I used homemade)
  • 1 medium sized onion chopped
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1-2 green chilis chopped
  • 1/4 cup green peas (used frozen)
  • 3/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 turmeric powder
  • 1/2 garam masala
  • chopped cilantro
  • 3-4 tbsp olive oil

Directions:

Crumble the paneer and set aside.  In a kadhai, add oil and let it heat up a little.  Add cumin seeds, as soon as it crackles, add chopped onion.  Stir for a few minutes until light pink.

Now add green chilis , chopped tomato along with salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and garam masala.  Sautee for 5-6 minutes until raw tomato smell goes away.

Now add the crumbled paneer and mix well. Check the spices at this time, add if anything is needed as per your taste. Cook covered for a few minutes.  Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with paratha or chapati.
